Define yourself

by Gregg Hake on January 22, 2013

I have a simple thought for you this morning. Properly heeded, this straightforward notion will save you an enormous amount of heartache and bitterness:

Define yourself by what you believe in, not by what you don’t.

Simple, but profoundly essential to a life worth living.

What a succinct, clear statement; that if employed would probably shorten most conversation by two thirds. I love your blog and various people for this very reason, they’re a breath of fresh air.

Defining myself by what I believe in sets my inclination on a positive course. I’ve realized this is a subtle calibration with a very distinct trajectory; onward and upward. Great post, thank you.

When you live your life concerned primarily with a lack, all you see is what is missing, not what is present. All this creates is an anger-centered intensity in life that will end up stripping you of anything worthwhile.

It is intriguing to meditate on believing and knowing. Both do relate to a grounding in consciousness that brings something solid. Thank you for your consideration today as it relates to all of our living.

I believe in God.
I believe in you.
I also believe the principles outlined here, are specifically designed to bring us closer to understanding His will for us.

I believe “The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand, here and now”.

That may be, Joshua, but don’t forget the first word in the original version of last sentence of your comment.
