The Heart of Individuality

by Gregg Hake on June 30, 2014

“Each of us brings something alive in the world that no one else can. There is a profound necessity at the heart of individuality. When your life awakens and you begin to sense the destiny that brought you here, you endeavour to live a life that is generous and worthy of the blessing and invitation that is always calling you.” – Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections on Our Yearning to Belong, John O’Donohue

When you peer into the heart of individuality, you find that is not so much a matter of a uniquely cultivated outer personality, talent or appearance, but rather, it is the result of a unique confluence of the spirits of love and truth within your soul. As a snowflake is made by hydrogen and oxygen cooled to a certain temperature, the life that you are is the result of a unique combination of love and truth.

Your individuality was not meant to be a mystery to you. It doesn’t dawn on you all at once; you are meant to grow into it as you mature. You don’t have to search inside for it, as its parentage is partly radiant (love). Your individuality emerges through the portal of your service to and love of others.

Though us, as a portal for service and love, emerges the blessing from the Creator. What could be more genuine and authentic! Lovely post, thank you.

From our recent meditations I am seeing more clearly how if our true individuality is to be increasingly expressed we must back up to reside in a place that is clear. A place that sees all possible challenging opportunities as ways to shine through. Maturity is about the interest and choice to be true to the inherent divine nature of oneself moment by moment. There has to be a depth of choice to remain radiant and not be sidetracked by cares that come along that may seem even to be too overwhelming. Maturity comes as there is a consecration of our soul to what really is the truth of love.
